5 Bold Styles to Try for Fall

In 2010 Fashion Trends on September 29, 2010 at 6:59 pm

1. Color coordinate! And by color coordinate we mean match the shade of your lipstick with the color of your dress. This might sound tricky and we know that being too color coordinated can become a fashion faux pas, but here’s our tip: use only red or deep tones like plum on your lips.

Stay away from bubblegum pinks!

2. Wear a clutch…during day time! Clutches are not only for evening wear, you can easily wear them from nine-to-five. And look super chic! Just take Tamara Mellon’s, founder and chief creative officer at Jimmy Choo, advice: “It’s a fresh, modern alternative to an oversize bag.”  Sure, you have to avoid satin and all over sequins for day time. We love Kim Kardashian’s leopard print clutch!

3. Dare to rock a pair of cute socks with a skirt! This is one of the most popular trends on the runways and we must say it looks cute. Best way to wear this trend is by matching the socks to the color of your shoes – we suggest you start the easy way and wear black. You’ll notice that it will look like you’re wearing booties. You can opt for ankle or knee length.

4. Have fun with fabrics and prints by mismatching them! This fall you are allowed to pair florals with polka dots or animal print with stripes. Give this bold trend a try and mismatch your prints!

5. Wear denim…from head to toe! The trick to getting it right? According to Gap’s executive vice president of design, Patrick Robinson “mix fabric weights and washes”.

Now tell us, which of these 5 bold trends would you try for fall?

Nostalgic pieces. Think ’70s style and invest in simple, vintage pieces, a pair of clogs or some fashionable platform shoes like these Shellys Maple Wooden Platform Shoes or, if you’re not on a budget, these cute Miu Miu Spring 2010 RTW Crystal Embellished Sparrow Print Sandals.

Over the knee boots. There’s nothing sexier to wear for fall than a pair of knee length boots!

Proper Etiquette. This means that buttoned up collars are in style and pretty much anything Mad Men inspired: full skirts, nipped-in waists or twin sets.

Romantic lace. We love this trend: it’s elegant, feminine and pretty. Take a look at this year’s Miu Miu collections, Antonio Berardi and Top Shop for inspiration. You’ll find some fabulous pieces!

Shawls. Pashmina shawls will add the perfect final touch to any outfit, making you feel and look fabulous. Not to mention they can be worn with success in lots of different ways, to any occasion or event.

Xtra strong colors!

Yeti inspired fashion. Be careful with this trend and try to avoid wearing head to toe fur/faux fur. Instead, opt to spice up your autumn outfits with one Yeti-inspired item at a time: fur vests, fur boots or Mukluks

Best Gifts for Bridesmaids

In Bridal Fashion, Bridesmaid Pashmina Shawls on September 16, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Your bridesmaids have put their time, love and support into helping you make your wedding day perfect. The best way to show your appreciation and gratitude is by offering them unique bridal party presents. Since we know that planning a wedding doesn’t leave you much time to search for gifts, we’re presenting you with a helpful list of what we feel are the best gifts for bridesmaids:

Pashmina Shawls

The pashmina shawls make a perfect bridesmaid gift: they look and feel amazing, plus thanks to their versatility the bridesmaids will be able to wear them even after the wedding! We suggest getting your bridesmaids some gorgeous shawls to complement their dresses and if you want to offer them a really special gift: personalize the pashminas with the bridesmaids’ names!

Bridesmaid Jewelry

Present your bridesmaids with tasteful custom bridesmaid jewelry sets. Make sure the jewelry matches the bridesmaids’ dresses and take into account their preferences. Most common options are pearls and Swarovski Crystal jewelry.

Bridesmaid Gift Basket

This is one of the greatest ways to thank your bridesmaids for helping you make your big day extra special. Offer them a beautiful and extravagant bath and body gift basket. They deserve the pampering!

Embroidered Canvas Tote Bags and Monogrammed Bathrobes

Personalized Canvas Tote Bags make beautiful and useful bridesmaids gifts. Offering chic portability, they are perfect for a day at the beach or for a shopping trip.

Monogrammed Bathrobes are also a big hit when it comes to bridesmaids’ gifts.

Other popular bridesmaid gifts are jewelry boxes, scented candles, paying for the bridesmaid dresses, professional hair & make-up, manicures/pedicures or Spa treatments.

We advice every future bride to try and be a little more conscious of what everyone would like and actually use. A special present with some thought behind it will show your bridesmaids how much you love and appreciate them.

What was the best bridesmaid gift you ever received?

How To Wear Fall’s Top 5 Colors

Fashion Color Trends Fall 2010

A new season has started and we need to be prepared: know what’s in and what’s out, what the season’s key clothing pieces are and what colors we should wear this fall. Here’s our fashion color report for fall 2010 plus tips on how to wear your favorite colors:

Bright Red is this season’s “it” color and every fashionista must have at least one accessory or clothing piece in this fiery color in her wardrobe. Dare to make a statement with an all red stylish ensemble like Heidi Klum or simply pair your autumn outfits with a gorgeous red scarf , a red belt, a purse and a pair of sexy red heels as seen on Katie Holmes.

Jewel Tones: emerald green, royal purple, and cobalt blue are some of this season’s must have color tones. Pair jewel tones with basic black and the result will be breathtaking! Take a hint from these gorgeous ladies: Freida Pinto and America Ferrera. And if you don’t want to spend lots of money on a new dress, simply ad a touch of color to your autumn attire with a lovely blue shawl.

Gold. No jewelry required if you’re planning to wear a skintight dress like Jennifer Lopez or a yellow gold pashmina wrapped around your neck!

Classic Beige and Camel. This season opt for beige and camel items, other than the classic camel trench coat. Try on a silky beige blouse, a pair of camel pants, a sexy nude dress or subtle beige accessories.

Last but definitely not least: Black. Since sheer lacy numbers are one of the fall’s hottest trends we recommend a lacy LBD similar to the one worn by Zoe Saldana. And if you feel like you need a bit more coverage, wrap yourself in a luxurious satin shawl.

Wedding Beauty Tips

In Bridal Fashion on September 10, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Do you know what’s the most important detail wedding guests will remember? That’s right: the bride’s overall look! On your special day, all eyes are on you. Not to mention you’ll have pictures and video footage to document your ceremony and you want to look at them with pride.  That’s why you have to pay special attention to your appearance, hair and make-up.

Here are some wedding beauty tips to help you glow on the happiest day of your life:

Before the wedding follow these 5 steps:

  1. Get enough sleep and drink plenty of water. You are a future bride, which means you have lots of planning and organizing to do. Still, do not neglect yourself prior the wedding and make sure you get your beauty sleep. If you’re having a hard time falling asleep, try taking a warm bubble bath before going to bed. Also, do not forget the 8 glasses of water/day rule. We know you have to run all over town with errands but that’s no excuse: always carry a water bottle with you.
  2. Find a good make-up artist. As a bride, you want to look flawless on your big day. We recommend that you take your time and try to find a make-up artist that will meet your expectations. Experiment until you find the style that best suits and enhances your beautiful facial features. Afterwards have make-up rehearsals and take inside and outside pictures to see how they turn out.
  3. Take good care of your skin. A couple of months before the wedding start a beauty regime and introduce a skincare routine for your body.
  4. Get a manicure, pedicure and book for facials.
  5. Find the perfect fragrance. The wedding day is a romantic day so opt for a romantic, light fragrance. Avoid applying the perfume directly on the dress. It may stain and ruin your beautiful wedding gown.

Make-up tips:

First, take into consideration if your wedding is scheduled for a day (opt for a natural make-up) or night event (go for darker shades). Another tip is to use waterproof make-up products to ensure your make-up stays on during the ceremony and wedding party.

Bridal hair tips: We recommend you start early with the hair style planning since you may want to experiment different colors and styles. Also, when you make the visit to the salon for your beauty consultations take your headpiece and earrings with you.

To make sure your hair stays in place, use a conditioner or hot oil treatment to prevent frizz. Also, make sure you have all-time access to an emergency kit containing a comb and a can of hairspray – just in case.

Tell us about your wedding day, make-up and hair style and share your bridal beauty tips!

Fall 2010 Fashion Trends: 5 Key Pieces You’ll Love

In 2010 Fashion Trends on September 7, 2010 at 9:59 am

It’s official: autumn’s here! Goodbye short summer dresses, flip flops, cute tank tops, hello fall fashion trends! That’s right; it’s time to renew your wardrobe with this season’s key clothing pieces:

  • 1. Leather Jacket. Best buy this autumn: a quality leather/faux leather jacket. As you’ve probably noticed by now, leather clothing is an on-going trend. We suggest you invest in a black leather jacket and try pairing it with a feminine cocktail dress and some heels. It will be a nice change from the classic leather jacket and jeans combo. We loved this look:

If you’re the type who prefers a comfy yet chic look, pair your leather jacket with a fashionable denim scarf. Not only it will keep you warm, but you’ll also look great!

  • 2. The Floral Dress. The summer may be over, but this trend is still going strong. So don’t put away your floral dresses this fall. Wear a floral dress with a matching knitted cardigan for maximum cuteness. Take a hint from Reese Witherspoon:

  • 3. Military inspired clothing. This was a spring trend, summer trend and we’ll get to enjoy it this fall too! We suggest you try out the cargo pants. We’ve seen Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Cheryl Cole and many more fashionistas sporting the famous olive cargos.
  • 4. Full Skirts. Two words: Mad Men. Pair them with a fitted top to show off that tiny waist or a sexy see through blouse, you’ll love the results. Just take a look at a gorgeous full ’60s dress from the Louis Vuitton A/W 2010, for inspiration.

  • 5. Menswear Bottoms. Put your skinny jeans away for a moment and try on a pair of menswear bottoms. They’re perfect for a daytime look or at the office. Hands in the pockets and strut your stuff. Here’s some inspiration:

Bonus: Fall color 2010 trends Jewel tones (ruby, purple, and royal blue), Gold, Beige and Pastels (Dusty Rose, Light Pink, and Lagoon), Bright Red and Coral are some of this season’s hottest colors.

Please tell us, which of these 5 fashion items are you planning to wear this fall and which you think are better left on the shelf?
